Global Village visitors rescued from high-rise fairground attraction

High-flying passengers on one of Dubai Global Village’s tallest attractions were left stranded when a ride malfunctioned this evening.

The 85m tall Shang High is a towering attraction that gives the bravest Global Village visitors epic aerial views of the fairground attractions.

Eye witnesses reported that a malfunction left passengers stranded in mid-air on Tuesday.

It is not known how many passengers were on the ride at the time of the malfunction, but the Shang High can seat up to 32 people at a time.

The ride sees daredevils lifted 85m into the air and spun around on swings.

On videos shared with Arabian Business a crane can be seen ascending to the stranded ride-goers who were later all safely returned to the ground

Global Village is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubai. Returning for its 27th season this year it saw VIP packages sold out within an hour ahead of re-opening on October 25. It will run until April next year.
